TRANSPORTATION STUDIES AND TRAFFIC ANALYSIS
We might be justifiably blamed for the place we selected to mention this important field in our forgoing account of activities. It is indeed this field unified and intermingled with corridor studies that makes it possible to get a unique and due understanding of the function, importance and feasibility of a highway and/or motorway under consideration. And it's only through such an understanding and necessary estimations based thereupon in turn, that a correct route selection and following preliminary design is possible.
This philosophy and proper conceptualization is something which we believe to have firmly introduced and accentuated, especially in our motorway projects that we are happy nowadays to see them penetrating and finding a place nearly in each highway and motorway planning, reconnaissance and design activity. It is in this context that we have conceived and designed the attached flowchart of concepts and activities and that it has been included among the official scope definition documents of General Directorate of Highways.
Apart from providing services and consultancy to that effect in our motorway and other highway projects, we have been awarded and successfully completed a separate Transportation and Corridor study for the Trabzon Ringway as we have already described above. Such studies, from now on, started to receive due consideration and, to our pleasure, on the way of being stipulated in pertinent design activities or becoming subject of separate contracts which we firmly believe to have helped proliferate in our country.
FEASIBILITY STUDIES and ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ANALYSIS
In a close connection with the previous article the Feasibility Studies and Environmental Impact Analysis have became a must to precede or be included in each highway, motorway or similar infrastructure planning and design activity, in most cases enjoying an enforcement by law. As such, we have already completed and submitted the feasibility studies and environmental impact analysis concerning our motorway design projects having obtained their approval through pertinent government departments. The same or similar requirements obtain for and included also in our other ongoing works.
Apart from these we have been awarded and completed a separate feasibility study of Mersin Main Container Port which is planned to be one of the greatest in Mediterranean.
